Green Light Report: BROFORCE
If Metal Slug and Mario had a baby and Michael Bay delivered it, you’d name it BROFORCE.
The brovelopment team Free Lives consists of six bros from South Africa and started April of 2012 after founder Evan Greenwood’s success with Pocket RPG. You can learn more about the rest of the team here.
BROFORCE is a 2d side-scroller with explosive environments, copious amounts of bad guys, and characters ranging from a wide variety of 80’s and 90′s action movies. If you are playing co-op be sure to high-five as much as possible, chaining it for extended slobro mode. Each time you start a level, save a hostage, or die you respawn as a different bromando. Each of these different bropocalyptic badasses have their own unique abilities and I’m going to tell you right now that they are all awesome.
Too many guys for you to take out at once? No problem! Chuck Frickin’ Norris has you covered. Use his special to drop a carpet bomb! A frickin’ carpet bomb! I won’t ruin it for you, but make sure you hold down the fire button with Robocop until you hear it click. You’ll almost feel sorry for those poor bastards in front of you.
Aside from the obvious aesthetics, the heroes are all viable and incredible in their own right. The mechanics are intuitive, the controls are completely customizable, and the fun factor hits you harder than Schwarzenegger’s accent.
