QuakeCon: WET Impressions 0
I wasn’t really expecting to see WET at QuakeCon, but another game to play is cool with me. It reminded me of playing Stranglehold at the 2007 QuakeCon. The game plays exactly the same. Only difference here is a little more style, and a sword. The build I played was very solid, and introduced many elements to the gameplay.
I started off in an environment similar to Stranglehold, slow-mo shooting, and using the environment for acrobatics. Even the setting is very similar here. I was then put into a Kill Bill style area, with just white, red, and black coloring. This part was just full of shooting and slicing. The main point of all this is ‘style’. You gain multipliers for the way you engage in combat. Flipping around, jumping off walls, dual shooting, etc. There is more variety here to give it the upper-hand against Stranglehold.
To even further the gameplay variety, I’m then on a car speeding down a highway, using QTE’s to jump from car to car, shooting enemies sticking out windows.
Strangehold was fun when I first got it, but it was way too similar the whole way through that I stopped. I think WET has enough variety here to keep my attention the whole way through. I’ll definitely be checking it out.
